Frantic...Munna Bhai -- The Teachers of the New Era

There has been a four-day long training on subject-wise pedagogy for which the focus was mostly set on the new educational theory of 'Constructivism'.

According to the theory of constrictivism the Instructor (we must not call ourselves 'teachers' anymore) must allow the learners (not 'students') to be involved more in their base-line studies and then in peer learning. In a 40 minutes long class the Instructor has only 10 minutes of his show to teach new things to the learnes. Based on that, the learners are induced with the knowledge of the new things those are added to their previous one.

I really wonder that in welcoming this new progressive theory of learning, no one thought of the discipline in the classes. All have taken for granted that through application of this new educational policy, the learners would turn disciplined in one fine morning showing all the due respect to all the teachers when all I can see around myself, as a teacher, that disobedience and indiscipline are running rampant in the educational institutions from the end of the learners and their  guardians with the introduction of no cudgels and only chocolates even when the mistakes are made.

In suppport of that reference to the Bishop's Candle-sticks sounds good and inspiring and many more rare stories are fashioned to induce the spirit in the teachers to work as Munna Bhai, the greatest Gandhian of this new dawn, to offer chocolates and roses with unlimited perseverence even when a learner thinks that cheating is his/her fudamantal rigt in the exam hall and the role of the invigilator is to see that he/she not disturbed in anyway while doing so.

I better call this idea frantic....if not fantastic. The respected Inspectors have long turned puppets in the hands of this system and have been continuously preaching these ideas with the added flavours, indiscriminately with all their personal wits and wisdoms shut.
